Disclaimer/Permissions

Being that Hank is from 1962, was born during WWII and has been growing up through much of the African American Civil Rights Movement I suppose this is part where I preface things with the fact that Hank will, like as not, be offensive. Even in the TDM he's had to bite his tongue on a couple things. His obsession with normalcy very much means cis hetero white middle class America. His status as a mutant gives him a slightly different perspective on this, however and it is shown in all canons but specifically in the movie canon that by the time Last Stand rolls around he is a leading political figure in the mutant civil rights effort. He has a lot of time to grow into that man but he has the capacity to and I am really looking forward to playing through some of that. It also helps that he probably already respects Martin Luther King Jr. for his stance promoting equality through nonviolence which is exactly what Hank himself does later in life.

Letting him slowly learn to accept others for their differences, be it race, sexual orientation, or any other status. Those first two are the ones he'll have the most trouble adapting to at first though. The idea is that, in learning to accept himself, he will be able to look at others' differences and feel less threatened by them. It will be a slow process and I intend to put all of this as a disclaimer on his journal and intro post as well but it is one that I am really excited to be able to play out that character growth.

That said I understand that this could be difficult for some people to maintain an IC=/=OOC barrier with and thus some people may prefer not to thread with Hank. That is perfectly understandable and if you leave a note here I will make a point to try to keep separation as much as possible between our characters.

General permissions:

IC

  • Hugging: Hank is not terribly comfortable with physical contact so expect some awkward.

  • Kissing/flirting: See above

  • Fighting/killing: Hank will always try to take the peaceful route whenever possible. That said he has no qualms defending himself.

  • Injuring: Within reason, message me before anything more than minor injuries

  • Telepathy/Mind-reading: He's kind of used to this but be warned his brain probably functions at a much faster rate than normal, usually with more than one train of thought going at the same time. Genius and all.

OOC

  • Backtagging/Slow threading: I should be asking you that. I am super slow, I apologize in advance. I am always up for backtagging unless it has the potential to be cause for retcon

  • Threadjacking: Please ask first, even if that is tossing in your comment with a subject comment so you don't miss the spot you want to pop in on. Also if you do please keep the tagging order consistent or close to. No running off with a thread and leaving someone behind.

  • Fourth-walling: Not in game, sorry.

  • Sensitive subjects: Not for me but as stated above Hank can be a bit offensive.

(no subject)

What do you think is your best feature or characteristic?
Intelligence.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you bring and why? No, you can not bring a boat.
This question really loses a lot of it's potency when one has recently been stranded on a deserted island.

- A flair gun or fireworks to garner the attention of any passing ships.
- A distillation unit for purifying sea water into something drinkable.
- A net for catching fish.

As I believe the point of this question is, actually supposed to be something more long the lines of "what three things would you be unable to live without?" I suppose I should include a secondary set of responses.

- As many books as I am allowed, preferably on subjects that I know little to nothing about. If I'm to be trapped the least I can do is use the time to learn something.
- Similarly as much of my lab equipment as possible. I suppose it depends on what you consider a "chemistry set". At the very least a microscope.
- As both of those are rather pushing the limits I suppose I will leave it at that.

Do you prefer fresh air or air conditioning? Why?
Air conditioning is nice, especially when working in a lab when sweat could be considered a contamination. Considering I am not entirely sure I can sweat anymore, and panting would be nothing short of mortifying, I might find myself more inclined to prefer air conditioning over fresh air. As it is not something one often encounters, however, I suppose it's really not terribly relevant.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
Winning the lottery is a bit unnecessary when one has the finances of Charles Xavier backing their research. I suppose I would repay Charles. I would also ensure my parents were comfortable.

If you were any animal, what would you be?
Very. Funny.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
This seems to be a little redundant for someone such as myself but I suppose invisibility might be my next project. Or at least manipulation of perception. Still it would have been quite useful if our jet was not quite so obvious.

Have you ever had something happen to you that you thought was bad but it turned out for the best?
If you're trying to make me look for the silver lining in this situation, or in recent events, that is not going to happen.

Though I suppose if I weren't what I am now I would not have been able to save Alex. That at least was for the best.

What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
Losing my position with the CIA.
